To the EIP Community:
As you may have heard, our co-founder, Phil Washington, was nominated last week by President Biden to serve as our nation’s next FAA Administrator. I know all of you join me in congratulating Phil and in offering our best wishes for a smooth and quick confirmation. We all recognize that Phil is one of the finest transportation executives and public servants in America. Coupled with his exemplary 24-year career in the United States Army, we can see why the President chose Phil to run the FAA.
What does this mean for the Equity in Infrastructure Project? Until he is confirmed by the US Senate, he will be right here with us, supporting and leading our mission to build generational wealth and reduce the racial wealth gap by creating more contracting opportunities for Historically Underutilized Businesses. After confirmation, Phil will continue to support EIP consistent with the requirements of his position.
As for both the short and long term, EIP will keep doing what we are doing – growing our ranks of Pledge signers and allies and continuing our work to expand the ranks of our leadership as our coalition grows. Last week, for example, we expanded the EIP effort to include our first six state DOT CEOs and another private sector anchor.
The beauty of EIP is that each of our five first movers and early adopters are passionate and talented leaders. Our depth extends far beyond the two of us and the EIP team. Our strength is in each of you.
Thank you for all that you do. I am excited for our friend Phil — and our nation— as we continue EIP's work to leverage America’s unprecedented investment in infrastructure into lasting change for families and communities.
