Eighteen leaders, including those of more than a dozen major Bay Area transit agencies and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, signed the Equity In Infrastructure Project (EIP) Pledge at a recent event hosted by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), San Jose, CA.
Bay Area transit agencies sign the Equity In Infrastructure Project Pledge
Bay Area community and transit leaders have pledged to join a coalition committed to increasing contracting opportunities for Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs) in the infrastructure sector. The Equity In Infrastructure Project (EIP) Pledge will work to increase competition for public contracts, save taxpayer dollars and deliver better value for infrastructure investments while building generational wealth and reducing the racial wealth gap.
Delaware joins 12 other states in Equity in Infrastructure project
Delaware officials announced last week that the state would join 12 other states as part of the Equity in Infrastructure Project (EIP) to create opportunities for Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs).
Nicole Majeski, Delaware’s Secretary of Transportation, joined Carlos Monje, Undersecretary of Transportation for Policy, and officials from the Department of Transportation from four other states to join the project they said would build generational wealth and reduce the racial wealth gap by creating more economic opportunities.

WASHINGTON, DC -- At an Equity in Infrastructure Project (EIP) event on March 1 that was part of the 2023 AASHTO Washington Briefing, the chief executives of 12 state DOTs signed the Equity in Infrastructure Pledge.
EIP Presents Historic Reciprocity Agreement
WASHINGTON, DC -- The chief executives of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) and Philadelphia-centered Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) signed a “reciprocity agreement” on January 9 that would allow historically underutilized businesses or HUBs to work for both agencies via a single small business enterprise (SBE) certification.
Milestone Convening of ‘Equity in Infrastructure Project’
WASHINGTON, DC -- The first Advisory Council meeting of the Equity in Infrastructure Project (EIP) brought together White House, USDOT and state and local agency leaders with private and NGO sector leaders on September 22 to improve public contracting practices by creating more opportunities for Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs) to build generational wealth and reduce the racial wealth gap by creating more prime, joint venture and equity contracting opportunities for these firms.
