EIP co-founder and chair, Phil Washington, has been inducted into the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Hall of Fame.

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Port of Long Beach (POLB) was among the initial agencies to sign the EIP Pledge as one of our First Mover agencies. Today, over 40 agencies, companies, and organizations in the infrastructure industry have also committed to the Pledge. But, signing the Pledge is just the first step. EIP is about action, and that’s what the Port of Long Beach is doing with the hiring of its first Officer of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Procurement, Jennifer Kropke.

WASHINGTON, DC -- We are excited to announce that Everett Lott, Director of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), is now Vice Chair of the Equity In Infrastructure Project. Lott is no stranger to EIP, having signed our pledge, joining us for events in Washington, DC and being an active participant during our regular virtual meetings.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Only one year ago, in April 2022, the Equity in Infrastructure Project (EIP) launched publicly with five First Mover signers of our Pledge. Just one year later, 41 signatories have embraced our Pledge, 17 distinguished members make up our Advisory Council, and 11 significant supporters provide the underwriting for our cause. Within a year of our launch, the White House has directly called upon Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grantees to join our movement. We are humbled, grateful, and inspired.

WASHINGTON, DC -- EIP now comprises 42 pledge signers and 17 Advisory Council members, and inquiries are coming in every day. That prompted us to develop a regular way to update interested parties on our activities and why they should join our movement – a way that went beyond the larger convenings we have been organizing in partnership collaboration with the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).

Through their participation in the Equity in Infrastructure Project, the chief executives of CTA and SEPTA signed a first-of-kind MOU to recognize each others' certified Small Business Enterprises (SBEs).
